Barcelos is an international chain with a passion for traditional Portuguese flame. As designers we
had to thoroughly study the franchise guidelines before finalizing a design. The architectural
intervention started with a thorough spatial analysis, optimizing the layout to accommodate the
chain’s standardized programmatic requirements. This involved strategic demarcation of zones for
dining, service, and back-of-house operations, adhering to the franchise’s operational flow diagram
while ensuring compliance with local building codes and accessibility standards.
The interior design followed a “South African” theme that was envisaged via wall murals, intricate
wooden carvings in the partition screens and the overall use of hues and colors in seating and
flooring. Our team successfully achieved the building permit for the restaurant and the franchise is
now thriving!
